Role Overview

We’re looking for a versatile Pixel Artist to own and elevate the visual identity of Tribe of the Accord. This role covers production art, sprite animation, and overall art direction across gameplay, environments, characters, and promotional beats.

Scope of Work

  • Create and polish production-ready pixel art assets including characters, enemies, props, VFX frames, and UI-support visuals.
  • Animate characters and creatures with expressive, gameplay-readable sprite animations (idle, locomotion, combat, reactions, and key scripted moments).
  • Define and maintain a clear art direction for the project, including palette logic, shape language, lighting approach, and stylistic consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with game design, level design, and engineering to ensure visuals support gameplay clarity and performance constraints.
  • Review existing art and identify quality improvements, then provide actionable paint-overs or guidance for revisions.
  • Prepare clean exports and naming conventions for engine integration, and support iterative implementation feedback cycles.

Requirements

  • Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality pixel art plus frame-by-frame animation for games.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and uphold art direction across multiple asset types while keeping a cohesive visual style.
  • Solid understanding of fundamentals: composition, value, color, readability, silhouette, and motion timing.
  • Experience building asset pipelines for game production (file organisation, sprite sheets, and handoff best practices).
  • Comfort working within technical constraints such as tile grids, palette limits, memory/performance budgets, and camera scale.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work asynchronously with a small indie team.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with Godot workflows and previous contributions to shipped 2D pixel-art titles.

What you will gain

  • Hands-on experience working on a commercial indie game
  • Mentorship and collaboration with an experienced indie team
  • Portfolio-quality work for future opportunities
  • Credit in the game and visibility as part of a growing community
